In the vibrant heart of Madurai, the saga of Vikram Multi-Specialty Hospital unfolds—a testament to the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of its founder, Dr. V. Narayanasamy. Established in 1986 with a modest 15-bedded facility in Annanagar, Madurai, this institution emerged under the stewardship of Dr. Narayanasamy, a general surgeon hailing from an agricultural background. His noble mission: to extend healthcare to the underserved, particularly those in the lower socio-economic strata.

The early days of Vikram Hospital witnessed an unwavering commitment to service, with a team of pioneering physicians collaborating with Dr. Narayanasamy. This esteemed group included Dr. P. Subraman, a distinguished Neurosurgeon, Dr. R. Durairaj, an accomplished Nephrologist, Dr. M. Srinivasan, a Senior cardiologist, and Dr.Padma, a proficient gynecologist. Despite facing resource constraints, their steadfast dedication laid the cornerstone for the hospital’s eventual evolution.

As patient demand and the need for enhanced healthcare services grew, the hospital expanded to a nearby location. Guided by the leadership of Medical Director Dr. N. Veerarajkumar, an eminent neurosurgeon, Vikram Hospital strategically broadened its services to include neuro-trauma, neurosurgery procedures, endo-urology procedures, spine treatments, and mass-focused interventions. This surge in demand paved the way for a grand vision, resulting in the establishment of the state-of-the-art, 175-bedded Vikram Multi-Specialty Hospital in 2012. Positioned near the pivotal Sivangangai ring road junction, this new facility was designed to provide tertiary care services.

Specialized units were established, focusing on neuro-trauma, orthopedic trauma, toxicology, and cardiac emergencies. The hospital proudly housed a fully-equipped cath lab, enabling comprehensive cardiac interventional procedures. The dedicated nephrology department ensured continuous services, offering emergency dialysis and intensive care.

While Vikram Hospital’s services thrived at the new center, The Annanagar hospital continued to deliver a comprehensive spectrum of services, including IVF, pediatric care, and obstetrics and gynecology services, all overseen by the adept guidance of Medical Director Dr. V. Sunitha.In 2022, the hospital welcomed the distinguished expertise of Dr. Madhavan, a Senior cardiologist with 23 years of experience at Apollo Hospital. Cardiology department under Dr. Madhavan guidance ntroducing advanced procedures such as cardiac thoracic interventions, bypass surgery, valve replacement surgery, and heart-hole surgery.

Strategically situated on a highway, Vikram Multi-Specialty Hospital emerged as a sanctuary easily accessible to those in need. Away from the urban bustle, it stands as a haven of tranquility amidst the chaos, extending a healing touch to countless lives.
